Apple is finally getting serious about the smart home — and its plans may be much bigger than we expected.
Apple is reportedly preparing nearly a dozen new Apple Home devices to take on Amazon Ring, Google Nest, and the rest of the smart home market. That includes the HomePod mini 2, a new Apple TV 4K, Apple’s long-rumored smart home display, a privacy-focused AI camera, and a whole lineup of smart home accessories reportedly being developed with LG.
In this video, I break down everything that’s been reported so far, including:
• HomePod mini 2 and Apple Intelligence
• Fourth-generation Apple TV 4K
• Apple’s new smart home display
• Apple’s unusual privacy-focused AI camera
• LG + Apple smart deadbolt with Home Key, Matter, Thread & UWB
• Apple/LG smart thermostat
• Temperature and humidity sensor
• Smart video doorbell
• Indoor, outdoor & floodlight cameras
• Why LG could be the perfect smart home partner for Apple
• When all of these new Apple Home devices could launch
This could be the biggest expansion of Apple Home since HomeKit debuted — and potentially the beginning of an entirely new era for Apple’s smart home platform.
I’ll also be diving much deeper into the Apple/LG partnership on the October 12 episode of Smart Home Insider, including what it could mean for Matter, Homey, Apple Home, LG appliances, and the wider smart home industry.
