Macworld Did you see the Keynote?! Tim Cook said the thing! The “one more thing” thing! Congratulations, Apple Keynote bingo players around the world. Now, we could talk about Vision Pro for hours but let’s not. We have the whole rest of the year to do that. And is anyone taking bets that Apple’s definition of “early next year” means the first half of the year? Suffice it to say that the Macalope thought Vision Pro was intriguing, technologically impressive, very weird, somewhat off-putting, and, of course, expensive. (If this is Vision Pro, wake him when Vision Amateur comes out.) Instead, let’s talk about what Apple didn’t talk about. Apple talked about iPhones, Macs, iPads, Apple TVs, HomePods, the Apple…
Macworld Apple has a rich, if checkered, history of releasing new Macs for hardcore computing professionals. Now that the Mac Pro has had a long-awaited revamp to Apple Silicon, let’s remember the days when pro Macs were towering beasts using more metal than the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and more plastic than a nursery full of Lego bricks. As Steeber points out, this is the…

Even if you don’t care about adware or being used as means to infect users on other platforms, it’s still possible to fall victim to ransomware, or password theft. Accordingly, good antivirus for Mac software will protect your Mac on all of these fronts. It’ll catch malware that’s still spreading or in circulation; block ransomware; protect older systems with out-of-date software from security vulnerabilities; prevent your Mac from acting as a carrier for malware aimed at other operating systems; and keep infected files off of any virtual machines you’re running. As to the question of which Mac antivirus software you should choose,…
