New Apple videos spotlight accessibility features

On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, new Apple ads showcased two accessibility features: Music Haptics on iPhone and Magnifier on Mac.

“Music Haptics on iPhone” highlights a feature in iOS 18 that lets everyone—whether hearing, hard of hearing, or deaf—experience music through taps, textures, and vibrations synced to audio. The video features Kenneth “Kiddo K” Alexander, a Louisiana-born rapper who lost hearing due to ear infections after Hurricane Katrina. Kiddo calls Music Haptics a “revolutionary tool” for feeling music’s vibrations, showcasing his song “Platoon” from his new EP, “Warzone,” released May 13. He emphasizes, “Music isn’t about listening. It’s about feeling it.”

“Magnifier on Mac” previews a forthcoming feature for iOS 19 and macOS 16, designed for low-vision users. The video shows a young woman using her Mac and iPhone to zoom in on classroom notes and slides, adjusting brightness, contrast, color filters, and perspective for better visibility. The description notes, “With Magnifier on Mac, you can now bring whatever is important into focus.”

MacDailyNews Note: On May 13th, Apple announced additional accessibility tools, including Accessibility Nutrition Labels, Accessibility Reader, Braille Access, Live Captions on Apple Watch, Live Recognition in Apple Vision Pro, and Magnifier for Mac, ahead of Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
