According to a blog post by prominent leaker yeux1122, Apple is going to release three significantly new iPhone designs over the next three years. This particular prediction comes from a report by a “trend and parts research company.” Naturally, when talking about any iPhone more than a year away, plans can and often do change.
This is a prediction based on a report from a research analyst for the parts supply industry, not from actual Apple parts orders or leaked design documents or anything like that. So take it with a bigger-than-usual grain of salt. That said, all of these models have been rumored before from other usually reliable sources.
2026: iPhone Fold: The long-rumored folding iPhone is expected to debut next fall, and we have heard this from multiple other sources as well. When opened, it should be approximately the size of an iPad mini.
2027: Bezel-free iPhone: Using an OLED that will be bent on all four edges, the aim is to produce a phone with no bezel at all on any edge, and to minimize or eliminate the notch/island with a punch hole or even an under-display camera. It’s meant to be an almost symbolic flex of Apple’s design and engineering prowess.
2028: iPhone Flip: A vertically-folding iPhone (flip-style), with a smaller and simpler external display for basic information and notifications.
Rumors of any future iPhones should always be met with skepticism, and those that stem from supply-chain analysts making predictions several years out are more suspect. But yeux1122 has landed a few significant predictions before, so it’s worth considering.
