Apple has released public betas for iOS 26 and related updates, including a HomePod software 26 public beta. The new HomePod beta delivers at least two new features.

Ryan Christoffel for 9to5Mac:

HomePod 26 is primarily a compatibility update to ensure your HomePod devices work well with other Apple products running the latest iOS 26 software.

However, during the developer beta cycle two new features have been discovered:

1. Crossfade is now supported for Apple Music playback

2. You can view and change your HomePod’s Wi-Fi network

MacDailyNews Take: The new feature allowing users to view and modify Wi-Fi networks on HomePod is a welcome improvement. In normal operation, HomePods are designed to automatically connect to the same network as an iPhone or iPad, but, Wi-Fi connection issues can arise. This new capability will greatly aid in troubleshooting.
