February is not often a very exciting month for Apple releases—the bigger spring releases generally come in March. But this year we have a couple of key products and updates worth anticipating in the shortest month of the year.
We could get the first M5 Pro and Max products, and an iOS/iPadOS/macOS beta that finally includes the all-new Siri. That makes for a more exciting February than we usually get from Apple.
New hardware releases
On the hardware front, several tipsters are now telling us that the MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips is expected to ship during the macOS 26.3 timeframe, which we expect to enter wide release as soon as next week.
The M5 Pro and Max will be unique in that they are expected to use a new “SoIC-MH” process that lets Apple put separate CPU and GPU dies on a single substrate in one package together. This could potentially let Apple mix and match CPU and GPU configurations, but it’s possible the company is only pursuing this technology to improve yields (and therefore costs) along with thermal performance.
There might be more than new high-end MacBooks on the horizon as well. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman tells us that Apple has a new version of the Studio Display in the works and due in the first half of the year, and current supply in retailers is dwindling. That’s usually a sign that Apple plans to phase out the current model and replace it. The new Studio Display is expected to support ProMotion up to 120Hz and HDR.
The M4 MacBook Air is also due for an update to the M5 soon, but stock levels of that product remain steady, so that update might land in March or April.
Apps and software updates
We got the new Creator Studio bundle at the end of January, and it came with updates to nearly all of the apps within—Final Cut Pro, Motion, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, Freeform, Compressor, and MainStage. Hence, there’s not much in the way of new applications or major updates to existing ones expected in February.
But the operating systems could get very interesting. We’re on the verge of the OS 26.3 releases, which only offer a few minor refinements along with bug fixes and security updates, as well as the launch of new MacBook Pros (see above).
The release of 26.3 will be followed almost immediately by the 26.4 betas, which will be a big release. iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26.4 are supposed to give us the long-overdue new-and-improved Siri based on Google’s Gemini foundation model. It will reportedly use a custom build older than the latest Gemini 3 release that runs entirely on Apple’s servers (with some simple tasks running on-device). Beyond the change in AI models, Siri will be able to understand what is on your screen, build a personal context profile of you to deliver tailored responses, and take actions within apps. It should be a big leap.
Siri will still be Siri, though: a phone, tablet, and PC assistant and not a full-scale chatbot with text input and back-and-forth conversations. In the OS 27 updates due this fall, Siri is expected to get both another big foundation model upgrade and evolve into that sort of chatbot.
