Apple Original Films’ “F1 The Movie” will be rereleased in select IMAX theaters beginning Friday, August 8, 2025, with plans to expand further into IMAX locations and large formats worldwide Friday, August 15.
Apple scored six nominations for the 98th annual Academy Awards, including Best Picture for the acclaimed Apple Original Film F1.

The blockbuster success of “F1,” the Joseph Kosinski-directed film starring Brad Pitt that became the highest-grossing sports movie of all time with over $631 million worldwide and earned four Academy Award nominations, has sparked widespread excitement for what comes next. During Apple TV’s 2026 press day, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali teased the possibility of a sequel to “F1,” responding to fan questions with a coy “Stay tuned” and promising more details in the future while stressing the need to fully digest the first film’s unprecedented impact. As Apple deepens its partnership with Formula 1—now streaming races exclusively in the U.S.—the high-octane world of the sport appears ready to accelerate back onto the big screen if the next chapter can match the original’s thrill.

Anthony D’Alessandro for The Hollywood Reporter:

Taking a question from the audience, Apple’s SVP of Services, Eddie Cue, read it to Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali who responded, “Stay tuned.”

“We’re going to tell you something more in the future,” said Domenicali who was on the stage at the Santa Monica Barker Hanger in the final session today with Cue “We need to digest the success of this movie. If you want to think of a new one, it has to be very good.”

F1 wasn’t just the biggest sports movie of all-time at the global box office with north of $631M, but it was also Brad Pitt’s highest grossing movie and Apple Original Films top grossing theatrical release to date. The pic was distributed and co-marketed by Warner Bros.

Beamed Domenicali about the success of the film and what it meant to the sport, “that FI would be able to be talked about in another dimension like Hollywood, we didn’t think was possible.”
