Macworld Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Acrobat are well known apps used by creative professionals. There was once a time when all these apps, known collectively as Adobe Creative Suite, were purchased on disc and installed on Macs throughout the creative and publishing industries, but this eventually evolved into the subscription based Adobe Creative Cloud. In this guide we will explain all the ways you can now buy Adobe’s apps. We’ll explain how much Adobe Creative Cloud costs, what the best way to purchase it is (monthly, annually, or another way), whether you can get it for free, and what happens if you cancel your subscription. Macworld Apple today announced new versions of its Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro media-editing software packages for the iPad, after decades in which they were available only on the Mac. The company, unsurprisingly, did not choose to elaborate on the reasons why, after all these years, this is the precise moment when both products suddenly make sense on the iPad. But its press release did talk up the advantages of the tablet platform. In the case of Final Cut Pro, the obvious answer is that, unlike a MacBook, a single iPad can both record and edit high-quality footage and is thus a more convenient workstation when recording on the go. Of course, some changes were needed to adapt the…
Macworld Less than a day after the release of iOS 16.4, Apple began the beta testing of iOS 16.5 with the release of the first developer beta, which was followed by a public beta a day later. We anticipate the final release of iOS 16.5 will arrive in late April or May. With WWDC about two months away, iOS 16.5 should be the last iOS 16 update before the first iOS 17 beta arrives in at WWDC in June. Updated 05/09/23: The release candidate of iOS 16.5 is now available. We expect the final public release next week, likely on May 15 or May 16. iOS 16.5: New features There are only two significant user-facing features in iOS 16.5. Apple…

Macworld The next version of the Apple Watch could enjoy a substantial boost in speed and battery performance after news broke that it’s likely to get a new processor based on the A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. Leaker-analyst Mark Gurman made the prediction, spotted by MacRumors, in a conversation on the Discord channel he hosts for subscribers. He began by saying the Apple Watch Series 9 would get a “new processor” and clarified that this meant a truly new component as opposed to the merely rebranded chips that Apple has included in the past two generations of its smartwatch. The Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra both have an S8 chip, while the Series 7 has…
Macworld Apple on Thursday announced its second quarter 2023 earnings, posting revenue of $94.8 billion for the quarter, a 3 percent decline year over year, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $1.52, which is unchanged from last year. Apple beat the expectations of analysts that predicted revenue of $92.96 billion and $1.43 earnings per share. Mac sales took the biggest hit, posting net revenue of $7.2 billion, a 31 percent decrease compared to the same quarter last year. iPad revenue was also down 13 percent to $6.7 billion. Apple did say, however, that the Mac and iPad reached all-time highs for their installed bases worldwide, but the company did not provide numbers. Apple’s Wearables, Home and Accessories sales were…
