Alongside today's launch of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad, Apple has updated its video and audio apps for Mac to integrate with the iPad apps as well as deliver new features and bug fixes. Photo by Andrew Marino / The Verge A great digital audio workstation for the iPad with some experimental ways to make music Over the past few days, I’ve been having a lot of fun composing riffs, beats, and rhythms using the new iPad version of Apple’s music production software Logic Pro. The subtly redesigned app translates the company’s pro-level audio app to a touchscreen interface really well, and thankfully, it does not dumb it down for a mobile screen. Those who have used GarageBand on an iPad will be familiar with a touch interface for virtual instruments and recording, but with Logic Pro, you have a whole lot more things to adjust — more knobs, faders, automations, plug-ins, and samples.…

Macworld A peculiar formatting bug is causing problems with text chains between iPhone and Android users, and no one seems quite sure who is to blame. Multiple reports in multiple threads on Reddit and elsewhere complain that the numbers of people using Android or Google Voice are showing up on iPhones with an extra + sign at the beginning. This leads to the iPhone becoming confused and thinking it must be an international number: if the first two digits of the area code were 44, for example, it would turn into the +44 international code for the U.K. when the iPhone applies its automatic number formatting. This Reddit user’s (U.S.) number has been misidentified as coming from Turkey because it…

Macworld On May 2, Apple issued its first Rapid Security Response update for iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, and macOS 13.3. Apparently, Apple was in such a rush to issue the update (hence the “Rapid”) that it didn’t want to wait for iOS 16.5 and macOS 13.4, which landed just two weeks later. At the time, it didn’t divulge what was fixed, but now we know. However, the security notes for the iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, and macOS Ventura 13.4 updates released on Thursday include the details on the fixes in the Rapid Security Response update. You can read the complete security notes online, but we’ve pulled out the fixes specific for the Rapid Security Response update below. All three devices…
