FCC filings have revealed that the required labelling on the new 2023 Mac Pro includes the phrase, "Product of Thailand," alongside the regular "Designed by Apple in California."Apple has previously made a big deal out of how the 2019 Mac Pro was made in Austin, Texas — although not all of them. That has chiefly meant the Mac Pro being assembled there, and the new model continues to have a label saying "Final assembly in the USA."However, the same FCC labelling adds this new and so far unexplained phrase, "Product of Thailand." It's previously been reported that Apple has been looking to increase manufacturing in Thailand, but specifically for the MacBook Pro, rather than the Mac Pro. Read more...
Macworld For various reasons, it’s long been useful for Apple to be able to say that its Mac Pro is made in the US. The rest of the company’s hardware manufacturing might be outsourced to a complex southeast Asian supply chain, but it can at least mollify jobs-obsessed nationalist politicians by pointing to the Texas facility where the top-end Mac is put together. Contrary to what those politicians might wish us to believe, that facility has been open since 2013, and the company’s announcement that the 2019 model would be made there emphasized that this was merely a continuation of a long-running policy. The 2023 Mac Pro, unveiled earlier this month, continues this tradition as well. But something has changed.…

Apple's new Mac Pro has a "Product of Thailand" label, but final assembly of the desktop computer still takes place in the U.S., according to an FCC filing. For the previous-generation Mac Pro released in 2019, Apple said the computer included components designed, developed, and manufactured by more than a dozen American companies for units being distributed to U.S. customers. With the Mac Pro now having a "Product of Thailand" label, however, it's unclear how many of the components are sourced from the U.S. still. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Fine print on 2023 Mac Pro models sold in the U.S. reads:Designed by Apple in California. Product of Thailand. Final assembly in the USA.Fine print…
