Optic ID will be used to unlock Apple’s new Vision Pro mixed reality headset that was introduced today at the WWDC 2023 event. According to Apple, Optic ID works by analyzing a user’s iris through LED light exposure and then comparing it with an enrolled Optic ID stored on the device’s Secure Enclave. Macworld Apple pulled the covers back on the latest iteration of its Mac operating system at WWDC on 5 June 2023. Given the high price point, there appears to be a single model, with no color options or accessories for the device, despite rumors. There could, however, be different storage options as Apple did mention a starting price. The headset will not be launching in 2023, with Apple instead planning to debut it in early 2024.
