Following this morning's keynote event, Apple has seeded the first beta of an upcoming watchOS 10 update to developers for testing purposes. To install the ‌watchOS 10‌ update, developers will need to open the Apple Watch app, go to the Software Update section under "General" in Settings, and toggle on the ‌watchOS 10‌ Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID linked to a developer account is required. Once beta updates have been activated, ‌watchOS 10‌ can be downloaded under the same Software Update section. Macworld Along with new versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, Apple will also letting developers and public beta testers try out the new watchOS 10 beta on their Apple Watches. Here’s how to get it. Should you install the watchOS Beta? Before we begin, a note of caution. One of the biggest problems with running the Watch beta is that an Apple Watch cannot be restored to the previous version of watchOS once the public beta is installed. Illustration by Hugo Herrera for The Verge If Apple’s mixed reality headset is going to succeed, it’s going to be because of the apps. On Monday, Apple will take the stage at its 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference to talk about FaceTime and Apple Books and all the other cool built-in stuff you’ll be able to do with its ski goggles strapped to your face. But if it can’t get third-party developers on board, and those developers don’t figure out how to build life-changingly great stuff for those goggles, the Reality Pro (or whatever it’s called) doesn’t stand a chance. Apple knows this better than anyone, of course. The iPhone took off when apps like Instagram and Uber showed what you…
Antivirus provider Kaspersky has discovered a malware campaign targeting iPhones running up to iOS 15.7 via iMessage. Importantly, this zero-click/tap malware can be found and blocked. Kaspersky: ince it is impossible to inspect modern iOS devices from the inside, we created offline backups of the devices in question, inspected them using the Mobile Verification Toolkit’s mvt-ios and discovered traces of compromise. We are calling this campaign “Operation Triangulation”, and all the related information we have on it will be collected on the Operation Triangulation page. This allowed [us] to move the research forward, and to reconstruct the general infection sequence: • The target iOS device receives a message via the iMessage service, with an attachment containing an exploit. • Without any user…
