Macworld In any business there are ups and downs. As you’d expect, ups and downs in Apple’s world can be pretty big. (It’s just a theme to pull two mostly unrelated stories together, people. Don’t think about it too hard.) Fortunately for Apple, the down here is actually for another company, but it’s a whopper. “Goldman Is Looking for a Way Out of Its Partnership With Apple” Apple Pay was just another in a long string of Apple products that pundits told us were doomed from the start. This comes after reports that Goldman Sachs has lost billions in the relationship. The Macalope doesn’t know about you, but when he gets into business deals that lose him billions of dollars,…
Apple this week began selling Ember's temperature-controlled Travel Mug 2+ with recently added support for the Find My app on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The mug launched earlier this year and is priced at $199.95 on Apple's online store in the United States. When SOS appears in your iPhone status bar, it means a cellular network is available for emergency calls. You can also add emergency contacts. After an emergency call…

Macworld It’s a big moment when Apple unveils a new version of iOS at WWDC each summer. After all, this software is running on a billion-odd iPhones and can fundamentally change the way they all behave: iOS updates add new features, correct flaws and UI issues, improve reliability (hopefully), and generally enhance the iPhone experience. All this without costing a penny to install. In 2023, rumormongers would have us believe, the new features part of that equation will be relatively minor, with development work on the company’s mixed-reality headset apparently costing so many engineer hours that the iOS 17 project had to be scaled back. Multiple pundits have warned that, while some smaller new features will be included, there won’t…
