Mimestream is what happens when you mix Gmail and Apple Mail. | Image: Mimestream The most important thing I can tell you about Mimestream, the email app for Mac that just came out of a yearslong beta, is that it finally made me stop going to Gmail.com. I’ve tried a lot of email apps over the years, and they all have at least one fatal flaw. (Some have several.) But some apps have a hard time finding contacts, others do weird stuff…
Macworld Why you need your own website If small-business owners didn’t understand the value of an online presence before lockdown, they certainly do now. Being online is key to growing your business. Whether you’re a writer, an artist, a photographer or an entrepreneur, a dedicated website showcasing your achievements is a brilliant way to reach clients and establish your reputation. With social media afflicted by issues of trolling and impersonation, particularly as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter move to a subscription model for verification, the only way to be sure of your online identity is to run your own domain. Building a website can be a hassle The problem is that, unless you’re an experienced coder, building a website is an…
Macworld Welcome to our weekly Apple Breakfast column, which includes all the Apple news you missed last week in a handy bite-sized roundup. We call it Apple Breakfast because we think it goes great with a Monday morning cup of coffee or tea, but it’s cool if you want to give it a read during lunch or dinner hours too. Jam tomorrow One of our most widely read articles last week was an exploration of early iPhone 16 rumors. Reflecting on reports of larger screens, better battery life, solid-state buttons, and more, the article mused that the best course for customers might be to skip the iPhone 15 generation entirely and wait for the big update in 2024. I don’t…
Welcome to our 2023 edition of the best MIDI keyboards for iPad and Mac. With the reveal of Logic Pro for iPad earlier this month (it’s about time, Apple) and its upcoming official launch on May 23, 2023, it seems a fitting time to go over some new releases and the best hardware keyboard controllers to really put the new mobile version of Apple’s flagship music software to work. The touch interface on Logic Pro for iPad looks fantastic thus far, but there’s nothing quite like getting hands-on with a MIDI keyboard when it comes to playing chord progressions, writing riffs and melodies, banging out beats on some bonus drum pads, and supplementing the touchscreen controls with assignable control pots.…

Apple supplier Quanta Computer is likely gearing up for new MacBooks, according to research shared by investment firm Morgan Stanley.
