Sonnet this week announced its latest Thunderbolt 4 dock, the Echo 20, and one of its key features is an internal enclosure for an M.2 NVMe SSD. This allows the dock to double as an external storage drive for a Mac. Accessible from the bottom of the dock, the enclosure can hold up to an 8TB SSD and supports data transfer speeds up to 800 MB/s, according to Sonnet. The dock is also equipped with an upstream Thunderbolt 4 port that provides up to 100W of pass-through charging to a connected Mac, two downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports, four USB-C ports with up to 10 Gbps speeds, four USB-A ports with up to 10 Gbps speeds, one HDMI 2.1 port, one…
The iPhone 15 Pro models will feature slightly repositioned power and volume buttons, among other small design changes, according to newly shared images of pre-release accessories. The images, some of which were posted on Weibo, show that the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌'s power and volume buttons will be positioned slightly lower than on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The iPhone 15 Pro's USB-C port, replacing the Lightning port on current models, also appears to necessitate a slightly larger bottom cutout. Most noticeably, the cases accommodate the new mute button that is set to replace the long-standing mute switch above the volume buttons. Since the button does not need to be gripped from the side and slid across like a switch, it…
Macworld Wireless headphones are essentially the standard now, with Bluetooth not only being convenient but Apple removing the audio jack on the iPhone range. For most people, the sound quality difference to wired isn’t noticeable anyway. The market is huge, but here are the best wireless headphones we’ve tested for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Macs. Let's take a closer look at how it all works by turning MacRumors.com into a virtual Mac app as an example. In macOS Sonoma, any website viewed in Safari can be turned into a web app, thanks to a new "Add to Dock" option in the File menu. In other words, no work is required on the part of web developers to make a site web app compatible, although there are some elements of web apps that developers can have control over (see below). How to Turn MacRumors into a…
Macworld Hardware was by no means in short supply at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference. Not only did Apple launch three new Macs but there was also that little matter of a revolutionary spatial computer. But just as the company uses its annual gathering to show off what software features are coming down the road for its platforms, it turns out that it’s also the ideal occasion for Apple prognosticators to read between the lines and see what additional hardware devices might lie just beyond the horizon. This year, more than most, shed some light on a few places that Apple might be looking to expand its footprint–notably in the home. That’s a market where Apple has staked a few…
