Macworld Apple put a lot of effort into making its early slate of Apple TV+ original shows a little bit of something for everyone. All the company needed was one breakout hit to put the service on the map. While the quality was good, none of the shows got that “everyone is talking about it” quality until, almost a year after the debut of Apple TV+, one of the shows that weren’t very heavily promoted became a runaway hit. Combing niceness and good cheer with soccer seems like a recipe that could never succeed in the U.S., but Ted Lasso managed to charm everyone just the same. The show immediately became the most-watched show on Apple TV+. The first season…
We’re in the final days of Apple headset hype (at least we hope), and that means there’s still time to make predictions. Macworld Until March 2022 Apple sold two sizes of its iMac desktop computer. The smaller model was more suited to home users due to its less powerful processor, while the larger 27-inch model, with more speed and higher-end features, was meant to be powerful enough for more demanding users. When Apple introduced the 24-inch iMac in 2021 with a colorful redesign and M1 chip, it was the beginning of the end for the high-end version. But the story doesn’t end there. Ever since it was retired, there have been…
Illustration by Hugo Herrera for The Verge It’s easy to blame trackers when fitness goals don’t go according to plan, but sometimes the problem lies closer to home. I almost quit this year’s New York City Half Marathon. The moment is seared into my brain. I’d been running for nearly two hours in freezing temperatures, straight into the wind. The Apple Watch Ultra on my left wrist buzzed to tell me I’d just passed mile nine. On my right wrist, the Garmin Forerunner 265S said I’d only run 8.55 miles. A short-ish distance ahead, I could see the official mile nine marker. I had no idea which distance was “true.” It didn’t matter, though. All I wanted was to beat…
As a big fan of Apple TV’s popular soccer comedy “Ted Lasso”, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he was happy to appear as himself on the show’s penultimate episode that aired this week. Pep Guardiola cameo in “Ted Lasso” Jason Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. In the 12-episode third season of “Ted Lasso,” the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate (Nick Mohammed), now hailed as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s…
