Macworld If you’re an Apple fan, 2023 has already been a great year. We got the new MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, a 15-inch MacBook Air, a Mac Pro with M2 Ultra processor, and of course, the Apple Vision Pro headset. But according to a new report, lots more products are in the works. Following the launch of the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9, and a new Apple Watch Ultra later this year, Mark Gurman reports in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple has numerous products in development for release in 2024 and beyond, including several that use the M3 processor: 13-inch MacBook Pro (codenamed J504)14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros (codenamed J514…
According to a Bloomberg News report, Apple’s near-term product roadmap includes the next-gen Apple Watch Ultra (perhaps called Apple Watch Ultra Series 2). Apple Watch Ultra, the most rugged and capable Apple Watch ever. A new Apple Watch Ultra, as well as two sizes of the next-generation Apple Watch 9, are also expected, according to the report. Jeff Parsons for Tom’s Guide: Previous rumors had us thinking the follow-up to the Apple Watch Ultra wouldn’t see the light of day until 2024 but that may not be the case. Unfortunately, Gurman has no information besides the fact a) the product exists and is coming and b) it’s codenamed N210. Still, that shouldn’t stop Ultra fans from getting excited about what…
Macworld Ever since Apple retired the 27-inch iMac after launching the Mac Studio and Studio Display last year, the dream of an iMac with a screen larger than 24 inches was dashed. But a year later, there’s new hope for a big-screen all-in-one. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple hasn’t forgotten about the iMac, which still has an M1 chip and hasn’t been updated in more than two years. Gurman reports that Apple is preparing two new 24-inch iMacs for release in late 2023 or early 2024. Those models will reportedly have the same design as the current ones and likely run M3 processors with other small upgrades, such as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. In addition…
The A17 Bionic chip initially used in the iPhone 15 Pro and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max later this year will fundamentally differ from a version of the same chip set to be manufactured in 2024, a new rumor claims. The A17 Bionic is expected to be Apple's first chip manufactured with a 3nm fabrication process, resulting in major performance and efficiency improvements over the 5nm technique used for the A14, A15, and A16 chips. The initial version of the A17 Bionic chip will reportedly be manufactured using TSMC's N3B process, but Apple is planning to switch the A17 over to N3E sometime next year. The move is said to be a cost-cutting measure that could come at the expense of…
Macworld At the heart of every Apple device is an Apple processor. Apple has been using its own chips in its iPhones and iPads for some time, while the Mac lineup has finally completed its transition away from Intel chips. Every product Apple makes is powered by a home-grown chip. What’s remarkable about Apple silicon is its performance and power efficiency. But all chips aren’t created equally. Understanding the performance differences between each chip will help with your buying decisions, especially when you’re deciding between iPhone 14 or MacBook models. Knowing how each chip performs gives you a better idea of what products to buy and whether or not it’s worth your money to step up to a higher model.…
Macworld Apple currently sells two laptop lines: the MacBook Pro (which comes in 13-inch M2, 14-inch M2 Pro/Max and 16-inch M2 Pro/Max models) and the MacBook Air (which is available in 13.3-inch M1 or 13.6-inch M2 and a, new for 2023, 15-inch M2 MacBook Air). That is a lot of Mac laptops with very different specs. In this article, we are concerned with the Mac laptops that are best suited to average use: home, student and office work. The 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro or M2 Mac chips are better suited to pro users and have much higher prices, so we won’t be including them here. But if you are wondering whether your needs might extend…
