Emergency SOS via Satellite, a feature introduced with the iPhone 14 models, over the weekend saved a hiker who was injured on a trail. As reported by ABC7, Juana Reyes was hiking a remote part of the Trail Canyon Falls in the Angeles National Forest when she suffered an accident. A part of the trail collapsed underneath her, breaking her leg. She had no cellular service, nor did the people who were with her, but she did have an ‌iPhone 14‌. "Thankfully, my phone has that SOS satellite feature I was able to connect to... I'm assuming satellites," she said. The Los Angeles County Fire Department Air Operations Section was able to get to Reyes after receiving a satellite call.…
In his Bloomberg Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman reported today on Apple’s upcoming product roadmap. Alongside the iPhone 15 lineup this fall, customers can expect the launch of Apple Watch Series 9 and a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. More updates to the Mac lineup, like M3 MacBook and MacBook Pro devices, are not expected until later this year or early 2024. Apple in March permanently shut down its retail stores in Charlotte, North Carolina, after the mall where it’s located suffered at least three shootings in recent months. At the time, Apple’s website stated, “In preparation for a new store we plan to open in the Charlotte area early next year, we will be permanently closing Wednesday, March 1st at 4pm.” Apple Northlake Mall : Tech giant Apple Inc. is bringing a retail store to Huntersville’s Birkdale Village. Macworld The iPhone 15 Pro this year is going to be powered by the new A17 system-on-chip, which should be the first large-scale consumer chip in the world to be made on a 3nm N3B manufacturing process. That means a lot more logic and cache in the same size chip, and better power efficiency at the same performance level as current 5nm iPhone chips. We expect big things from the A17.
