Macworld Apple’s Vision Pro headset doesn’t have a firm release date, but if you plan on buying one you can expect an even longer wait. According to a new report, Apple has severely cut back on orders for the new wearable device due to “the complexity of the headset design and difficulties in production.” The Financial Times report claims that Apple’s manufacturer is “preparing to make fewer than 400,000 units in 2024,” much lower than the previously rumored one million units. Additionally, the publication claims that two suppliers of “certain components for the Vision Pro” are only supplying enough for 130,000 to 150,000 units in the first year. The “manufacturing of the sleek screens for the device” is among the…
Photo by Vjeran Pavic / The Verge Apple is planning to sell its $3,499 Vision Pro headset on an appointment-only basis at launch, according to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. According to Gurman, Apple will create designated sections where customers can try on the headset in its stores, with the first ones appearing at stores in major areas like New York and Los Angeles. Apple will reportedly ask in-store buyers to schedule an appointment to purchase the Vision Pro, similar to the rollout of the first Apple Watch in 2015. During the appointment, Gurman says Apple will ensure that the Vision Pro fits the wearer and also outfit the device with prescription lens inserts if needed. Gurman says Apple…

Speaking to Fast Company, Ive said he had owned multiple Linn products over the years, explaining that "music has always been profoundly important to…

There is now a "low" chance that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with solid-state volume and mute buttons, according to Jeff Pu, a tech analyst at Hong Kong-based investment firm Haitong International Securities. Pu shared this prediction in a research note today alongside some details about the more imminent iPhone 15 lineup. Solid-state buttons were initially rumored for iPhone 15 Pro models, but Apple reportedly faced "unresolved technical issues before mass production" and had to revert to mechanical buttons. Pu previously said the solid-state buttons would be postponed until iPhone 16 Pro models, but he now believes even those devices are unlikely to have them. Apple supplier Cirrus Logic hinted at the solid-state…
Apple’s plans to release an updated version of the Apple Watch Ultra with a next-generation microLED display have been delayed again due to manufacturing challenges, according to market research firm Trendforce. Apple Watch Ultra Tim Hardwick for MacRumors: Information shared in April by display analyst Ross Young suggested that an Apple Watch Ultra with microLED display would launch in the second half of 2025 at the earliest, rather than late 2024 as was originally rumored. Now, Trendforce believes it has been postponed for a second time and is unlikely to emerge before the first quarter of 2026, because of problems relating to high manufacturing costs which need to be solved before Apple can proceed to mass production. Apple has reportedly…
