Macworld At a Glance Our VerdictWe think an M2 Pro Mac mini could be the perfect Mac for many Mac users who may be considering the Mac Studio, but there is no doubt that the Mac Studio is the better machine and the cheapest way to get maximum power. When Apple introduced the Mac Studio in March 2022 we were impressed by its processing power and excellent value combined. Now the Mac Studio has been updated with Apple’s M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips it is still a superb deal for content creators of any level, but Apple’s offering has changed over the months since the original Mac Studio launched. Now the Mac Studio has competition from an M2 Pro…

Macworld In our review of the 15-inch MacBook Air, we repeatedly pointed out how similar it is to the 13-inch model, from the keyboard to the display specs. Now we have confirmation that one other part of the laptop is the same too: slower storage on the 256GB model. According to a teardown by YouTube channel Max Tech, the 15-inch MacBook Air with 256GB of storage uses a single NAND chip instead of two 128GB chips as with the M1 models. As a result, storage speeds can be cut in half versus models with higher storage. That can result in system slowdowns especially as more space is filled on the drive. The same was true of the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air.…
Macworld If you are thinking of buying an older iPhone, or wondering whether it’s worth updating your current handset, one important factor to consider is for how long Apple will be offering support for that handset. There are two ways in which Apple supports iPhones. One is the software – ensuring that any bugs and security flaws are addressed. The other is the hardware – providing the parts and labor to fix a problem with your phone (for a price, of course). It’s for this reason that we dissuade people from buying particularly old iPhone handsets. The risk that a fault could occur or that you might be exposed to security risks is too high. The good news is that…
Macworld Wondering which type of MacBook to buy? This buying guide will help you decide which Apple laptop is best for you. Apple makes two types of laptops, the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. Within those two categories of Mac is a wide range of capabilities, the gap between the entry-level MacBook Air and the high-end 16in MacBook Pro is vast, but even within the MacBook Pro category you will find huge differences. We have more information on the differences between the MacBook Air and Pro in another article. While there are three MacBook Air models and eight MacBook Pro models sold as standard, in reality, there are multiple combinations if you factor in all the build-to-order options that…
Macworld Apple has only just announced the launch of its M2-based 15-inch MacBook Air, but the company is already working on the machine’s successor. A 15-inch Air with an M3 processor is expected to launch sometime in 2024, according to the prolific leaker Mark Gurman. In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, the Bloomberg reporter responded to speculation about the choice of processor in the new Air. The M2 chip, after all, is a year old, first appearing in the 13-inch Pro and Air laptops announced at WWDC 2022. It seems like a strange choice for the machine Apple described this month as “the world’s best 15-inch laptop.” Realistically it was always possible that WWDC 2023 would come…
