Popular Reddit app Apollo might not be able to operate as is in the future due to planned API pricing that Reddit is implementing. Apollo developer Christian Selig was today told that Reddit plans to charge $12,000 for 50 million API requests. Last month, Apollo made seven billion requests, which would mean Selig would need to pay $1.7 million per month or $20 million per year to Reddit to keep the app running. Just got off a call with Reddit about the API and new pricing. Bad news unless I come up with 20 million dollars (not joking). Appreciate boosts.https://t.co/FliuNCinpZ— Christian Selig (@ChristianSelig) May 31, 2023 The average Apollo user uses 344 requests per day, which would be priced at…

Roll can simulate camera effects on stationary iPhone footage that typically require fancy camera equipment like a dolly or crane. | Image: Roll Roll AI is a new video creation and collaboration platform for iOS and web that allows users to add simulated video effects to iPhone footage that would typically require professional camera equipment to achieve, such as stabilized pan or crane shots. Apple stock hit its highest price in more than a year on Tuesday putting the company’s value just below $3 trillion (a point its been above already in the past). However, it’ll take more than just a record close to hit that market-cap milestone once more. Dan Caplinger for The Motley Fool: You won’t find a bigger stock than Apple, as its market capitalization rose to nearly $3 trillion in early 2022. Yet even as other stocks make their push toward trillion-dollar market-cap status, Apple is dealing with a headwind in its efforts to retrace its record run — and it has only itself to blame… With the stock now about 2% below that mark, it might seem as if…
Many have predicted the death of the iPhone. We’ve been at Peak iPhone a bunch of different times. We’ve seen “stagnant growth,” “looming trouble,” and prognostications that other companies would steal Apple’s market share or that wearables or hearables or AR or VR or XR or SomethingElseR would usurp the smartphone. And yet, the iPhone remains what it has been for a decade and a half: the most successful product in consumer electronics, a $51 billion business in the first three months of this year alone. A more fair thing to say might be that the iPhone is complete. That’s what we get into in this Status Update. It’s not dead, it’s not dying, but maybe it’s a product on…
Macworld With less than a week to go before the WWDC keynote, rumors are continuing to roll in as we anticipate one of the most important keynotes in Apple’s history as it unveils the long-anticipated AR headset to the world. And according to a new report from Mark Gurman, that won’t be the only new product Apple brings to the show. In a tweet, Gurman reports that “several new Macs” will arrive at WWDC as one of the three “major focus areas” of the keynote (the various operating systems and headset are the other two). Unsurprisingly, he says that the keynote will be “one of Apple’s longest ever and easily exceed two hours.” I’m expecting three major focus areas next…
