We noted last week that Vision Pro supply will be constrained by the advanced OLEDoS displays used in this device. So far, Sony is Apple’s sole supplier, but Chinese company SeeYa is hoping to change that. SeeYa has just spent $24M on kit designed to boost its own production of OLED on Silicon (OLEDoS) displays, and the company is reportedly targeting Apple orders … more… The post Vision Pro OLEDoS displays: Chinese company SeeYa targets Apple orders appeared first on 9to5Mac.
Macworld There was a roughly two-year gap between the second and third iPhone SE models, launched in April 2020 and March 2022 respectively, so it would be reasonable to hope that a fourth model might make an appearance in spring next year. But the latest word from the analyst grapevine is that it won’t appear until 2025 at the earliest. In a research note shared with MacRumors, Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley this week said that, based on multiple conversations with Apple’s supply-chain partners, the company is unlikely to release a new iPhone SE in 2024. The news will be a disappointment for some (although perhaps not as much of a disappointment as the third-gen SE) but there…
After having "multiple conversations" with companies within Apple's supply chain this week, Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O'Malley believe that Apple is unlikely to release a fourth-generation iPhone SE in 2024. In a research note shared with MacRumors, the analysts said Apple's decision not to launch a new iPhone SE next year could indicate that the company's rumored in-house 5G modem will not be ready any time soon, which would benefit Apple's existing iPhone modem supplier Qualcomm. Apple has reportedly been planning its own modem since at least 2018, and acquired the majority of Intel's smartphone modem business in 2019. In April, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said mass production of Apple's modem would begin in 2025 at…

Verge tested, skele approved. | Photo by Antonio G. Di Benedetto / The Verge Woot is running a “best of tech” sale until June 24th, and I’m pleasantly surprised there are some good ones among the dreck. My top pick for today is the Belkin BoostCharge Pro with MagSafe, selling for $32.99 ($47 off) — which includes a 27W USB-C power supply at that discounted price. Belkin’s BoostCharge Pro is a fully MagSafe-compliant magnetic charger for iPhone 12, 13, and 14 generations, and it can charge at the full 15W output (12W for the iPhone 12 / 13 Mini) just like Apple’s own MagSafe puck. But it’s better because it has a much longer nylon-wrapped cable and a little collapsible…
