The rest of the company’s hardware manufacturing might be outsourced to a complex southeast Asian supply chain, but it can at least mollify jobs-obsessed nationalist politicians by pointing to the Texas facility where the top-end Mac is put together. Sony, which is supplying the panel used for the Apple Vision Pro spatial computer, has a capacity of 900,000 units of these panels per year, TheElec reports Monday. Apple Vision Pro features an ultra-high-resolution display system that packs 23 million pixels across two displays — more than a 4K TV for each eye — and the brand-new R1 chip, for a virtually lag-free, real-time view of the world.
