Macworld WWDC 2023 is just around the corner and it’s time for the annual exercise where we figuratively handcuff our wrists to our ankles and attempt to pull off an interpretive dance meant to indicate what we think Apple will announce. This is not an exhaustive list, even if it’s a little exhausting how much we’ve talked about some of this already. What to expect WWDC is, of course, always going to have a preview of the upcoming operating systems. You’ll get a preview of the new versions of macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and at least a tired admission that tvOS continues to be an operating system in their lineup. Macworld Welcome to our weekly Apple Breakfast column, which includes all the Apple news you missed last week in a handy bite-sized roundup. We call it Apple Breakfast because we think it goes great with a Monday morning cup of coffee or tea, but it’s cool if you want to give it a read during lunch or dinner hours too. One week to go There are just seven days to go until Apple’s WWDC 2023 keynote presentation, the second biggest event in the company’s calendar and the first of any kind since last fall. Macworld Officially Apple hasn’t told us what it will be announcing at WWDC 2023 on June 5, but there are clues if you know where to look. The latest and most blatant of these is the fact that a number of XR (or ‘extended reality’) publications have been invited to the keynote for the first time. On Tuesday, the industry news site Road To VR revealed that it had been invited to attend Apple’s summer event in person, and that fellow XR site UploadVR had too. Neither site has gone to WWDC previously, and the former notes that “Apple has historically not invited XR media to its events, let alone commented in any way on its XR R&D.” XR encompasses…

Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo said back in 2021 that Apple’s “goal is to replace the ‌iPhone‌ with AR in 10 years.” Here’s everything we know so far about Apple’s rumored mixed-reality headset which could arrive in 2023–perhaps as soon…
