Macworld Live Text was introduced as a new feature in macOS Monterey, and it allows you to use the text in an image. It’s a feature that’s quite helpful—for example, if you’ve ever been in a meeting or lecture, and snapped a picture of a whiteboard filled with written information, you can now select the text in the photo, copy it, and then paste it into a document. There are a lot of ways you can use the Live Text feature, and it’s a huge time-saving production tool. Live Text is also in iOS and iPadOS, and because you probably use the cameras on those devices often, you might use Live Text on your iPhone and iPad more than you would…

It features a 12-core CPU, up to a 38-core GPU, and up to 96GB of unified memory with 400GB/s of memory bandwidth. Mac Studio…
With the help of a little visual trickery and a fox clad in green threads, Tunic is every bit as clever as it is adorable. | Image: Finji Happy Saturday, y’all. The weekend is here, bringing with it deals, discounts, and savings on everything from e-bikes and smart plugs to portable speakers that are designed to soundtrack your next shindig. First up, however, is something a little more time-sensitive. As part of its ongoing Hyper Max Sale, Nintendo is offering discounts on both digital titles and DLC for the Nintendo Switch. The sale ends on Monday, June 26th, and Amazon and Best Buy are continuing to match Nintendo’s prices in most instances, making now a good time to prep your…
Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset will feature a new augmented reality (AR) version of the Visual Lookup feature found in iPhones and iPads. This feature, dubbed “Visual Search,” will allow wearers to get information about various items by simply looking at them. Apple Vision Pro features a pair of advanced, custom micro‑OLED displays deliver more pixels than a 4K TV to each eye — for stunning clarity. The feature was discovered this week by MacRumors contributor Steve Moser, who inspected code within the Xcode beta of visionOS, Apple’s AR and reality operating system that will power the Vision Pro headset. Moser found references to Visual Search in the code, which suggests that the feature is still under development. Visual Search…
Apple on Wednesday released the second beta of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 for developers to test. As with all new betas for major point updates, the software includes a number of small tweaks and changes as Apple refines the operating systems ahead of their launch. iOS 17 upgrades the communications experience with Contact Posters, a new stickers experience, Live Voicemail, and much more. Some of the changes in the second beta include: • A new Live Activities feature that allows users to stay on top of things happening in real time, right from their Lock Screen. • A new motion effect for Live Photo wallpaper that makes the Lock Screen feel more dynamic than ever. • The ability to add widgets to…
Macworld Along with the second beta of iOS 17, Apple this week released the very first beta visionOS, giving developers who weren’t lucky enough to try Vision Pro at WWDC their first glimpse of the company’s mixed-reality vision of the future. (Without wishing to repeat the F word too often, Apple describes the software as its “first spatial operating system.”) You don’t need an actual Vision Pro headset to explore the software, which is fortunate since they won’t go on sale until sometime next year. You only need the latest Xcode beta. It’s still early days, but a few interesting titbits have emerged already. For instance, there are several Environments present in the beta, which can be used to shut…
