Apple today seeded the fourth beta of macOS Ventura 13.5 to developers for testing purposes, with the beta introduced two weeks after the release of the third beta. Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, with the betas available through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings. No notable features have been found in macOS 13.5, so it's not yet clear what's included in the update. Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming tvOS 17 beta to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming two weeks after Apple introduced the first beta. Registered developers are able to download the tvOS 17 update by opting in to the beta through the Settings app on the Apple TV. Starting with iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma, Apple is making Communication Safety available worldwide. The previously opt-in feature will now be turned on by default for children under the age of 13 who are signed in to their Apple ID and part of a Family Sharing group. Parents can turn it off in the Settings app under Screen Time. Communication Safety first launched in the U.S. with iOS 15.2 in December 2021, and has since expanded to Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the U.K. With the software updates coming later this year, Apple is making the feature available globally. Apple today released iOS 16.5.1, iPadOS 16.5.1, macOS 13.4.1, and watchOS 9.5.2 updates, with the software adding security improvements. If you haven't updated yet, you should as soon as you can as these updates address actively exploited vulnerabilities. According to Apple's security support document, there are fixes for two vulnerabilities that may have been used by hackers and bad actors for system attacks. A kernel vulnerability that can result in arbitrary code execution with kernel privileges was addressed with improved input validation for an integer overflow.
