The Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, a non-profit aimed to furthering AI research, has named Apple machine learning chief Ali Farhadi as its new CEO.Starting from July 31, Darhadi will become the CEO of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2), the research institute explained on Tuesday. The move will have Farhadi overseeing the work of the non-profit, which performs AR research and engineering.An AI professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, Farhadi joined AI2 in 2015 to work on its Computer Vision team. Spotify's HiFi service is still being worked on, with the chronically-late lossless music streaming plan set to launch later in 2023, but not in the United States at first.Spotify logoOriginally floated in February 2021, Spotify's HiFi plan hoped to offer the same sort of lossless audio that Apple Music provides to subscribers. Bloomberg today reports that Spotify is finally almost ready to compete. The company is readying a new higher-end subscription tier that will include “HiFi” lossless audio streaming.
