Apple in iOS 17 has introduced a number of changes across its stock apps, including the Weather app. With the update, there are some minor changes to the functionality and design of the app. The biggest update is an option to see yesterday's weather in the 10-day forecast. In iOS 16, you can only view the current day and the next 10 days, but in ‌iOS 17‌, you can view current day, the next 10 days, and the weather from the previous day. 10-day forecasts show the chance of rain each day and offer a "daily summary" instead of a forecast. The main Weather interface has been updated with large "My Location" text for the weather forecast in at your…
Macworld After launching a redesigned MacBook Air with a 13.6-inch display and M2 processor in the summer of 2022, Apple has now launched a a new, larger, model. The MacBook Air is 11.5mm thin, making it the thinnest 15-inch laptop. It’s also just 3.3lbs. Apple’s calling it the 15-inch MacBook Air but the screen is actually 15.3in with 5mm boarders. Like the 13-inch model there is 500 nits brightness, a 1080p camera and more. The chip is still the M2. BAttery life is 18 hours. And it will cost $1,299. The 13in MacBook Air will cost $1,099 and the M1 model is still on sale at $999. More to follow! We will update this story as the news breaks, please reload…
This is what iOS 7 looked like in September 2013 — three months after Apple first announced it. | Image: Apple iOS 7 brought a bold new design, but much of what was introduced in that release still serves as the foundation for what we see on our iPhones today. Heading into WWDC 2013, Apple had a lot to prove. The company was still licking its wounds from the botched launch of Apple Maps in iOS 6, and complaints had been growing around iOS’s increasingly stale design. Though the iPhone was by then a proven hit, iOS was starting to look outdated. Remember the notepad-like Notes app? The weird linen background behind Notification Center? The felt-ish green background of the…
Macworld With less than a week to go before the WWDC keynote, rumors are continuing to roll in as we anticipate one of the most important keynotes in Apple’s history as it unveils the long-anticipated AR headset to the world. And according to a new report from Mark Gurman, that won’t be the only new product Apple brings to the show. In a tweet, Gurman reports that “several new Macs” will arrive at WWDC as one of the three “major focus areas” of the keynote (the various operating systems and headset are the other two). Unsurprisingly, he says that the keynote will be “one of Apple’s longest ever and easily exceed two hours.” I’m expecting three major focus areas next…
Macworld The 2024 iPhones, by all accounts, will feature their largest-ever screens… although the amount they’re going to expand by remains a point of dispute. After four generations in a row with the Pro and Pro Max at 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches respectively, Apple is finally going to bump them to 6.3 and 6.9 inches (according to Ross Young) or “slightly larger” than the existing models (according to Ming-Chi Kuo). The odd thing, however, is that the larger screens appear to be merely a side effect of the company’s real aim. If a new report is correct, Apple is only making the screen (and therefore the chassis) bigger so that it can fit in better cameras. Initially the claim…
