Image: Samar Haddad / The Verge Our iPhones continue to get faster, bigger, and better at taking photos and videos — but although battery life has improved over the years, so have our demands on those batteries. As a result, many phones still last about a day (or a bit more) with regular use. That’s fine if you can charge your phone every night, but what if you forget to do it? Or what if you’re away for a night or two? Or what if your battery starts to drain alarmingly quickly for no apparent reason? There are lots of scenarios where you might need to get your iPhone’s battery to last a little (or a lot) longer than normal.…
Macworld Apple’s higher-end iPads have used the universal USB-C connector port rather than Apple’s own Lightning connector since 2018. Now the iPad Air, iPad mini and even the 10th generation iPad feature the USB-C port instead of Lightning. In fact, the only iPad Apple sells without USB-C is the 9th generation iPad. The M1 iPad Pro uses the even more capable but identical-looking (and compatible to USB-C) Thunderbolt connection. What many people don’t realise is that the USB-C port is good for more than charging or plugging in wired earbuds. Apple’s tablets can also be used with other peripherals that transform it into a versatile computer. As such, iPad owners have a wide range of USB-C accessories available to them…

Apple’s latest iPad Air might not be as cheap as the newer entry-level model, but it’s still a better value. | Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference may be right around the corner, but we’re not expecting to see a ton of news on the tablet front outside of the next iteration of iPadOS. That means now is as good a time as any to pick up Apple’s latest iPad Air, which is currently matching its all-time low of $499.99 ($100 off) at Amazon and Best Buy in the 64GB / Wi-Fi configuration. Apple’s midrange tablet, in our eyes, is the best iPad for most people. The 2022 fifth-gen Air packs in a…
Macworld If there’s one persistent rumor about Apple’s upcoming AR headset, it’s the very high price tag. Ever since we started hearing about it, reports have pegged the MSRP at $3,000 or higher, which would make it one of the most expensive non-Mac devices in Apple’s history. However, a new report suggests that while it wont be cheap, the actual price might be significantly lower than reported. As reported by XRDailyNews, Apple’s headset will cost approximately $1,500 to manufacture, which includes several high-end components that are more than $150 each. The total cost was corroborated by multiple supply-chain sources in China, though the site notes that some terms “might not directly correspond to their conventional meanings.” Dual M2 processors: $120-$140Two micro…
Apple's Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter does not work with iPhones and iPads that have been updated to iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5, according to several users across the MacRumors Forums, Apple Support Community, and Reddit. The adapter has a USB-A port for connecting a camera, microphone, or other USB-powered accessory to an iPhone or iPad, along with a Lightning port for charging the iPhone or iPad. As of iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5, however, affected users say the adapter no longer powers any devices connected to both of the ports. The issue is likely due to a software bug that will need to be addressed in a future iOS version, but the underlying cause is unknown. Apple seeded…
