Apple's mixed reality headset will be available in several configuration options and have a starting price of $1,999, not the ~$3,000 we have been led to believe, claims a sketchy last-minute rumor coming out of Asia. Apple headset concept render by Marcus Kane In the lead-up to Apple's expected AR/VR headset unveiling at WWDC, rumors have fairly consistently placed the price of the device at around $3,000, which would make it far more expensive than those from rivals, which cost about $300 to $900. The $3,000 figure first appeared in a 2021 report from The Information, and has since been backed by other reputable outlets. Indeed, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who has called the headset a "pricey, niche precursor" to a…

Macworld Apple put a lot of effort into making its early slate of Apple TV+ original shows a little bit of something for everyone. All the company needed was one breakout hit to put the service on the map. While the quality was good, none of the shows got that “everyone is talking about it” quality until, almost a year after the debut of Apple TV+, one of the shows that weren’t very heavily promoted became a runaway hit. Combing niceness and good cheer with soccer seems like a recipe that could never succeed in the U.S., but Ted Lasso managed to charm everyone just the same. The show immediately became the most-watched show on Apple TV+. The first season…
Macworld Apple makes great computers, but they’re not cheap. Even if you are happy to pay the entry-price for a new iMac or MacBook Pro, you may be painfully aware that for just a few hundred pounds or dollars more you could get a much more powerful model. Phone batteries are prone to run dry just when you’re heading away from a power source, so having a portable charging source is one of today’s necessities. Annoyingly, most power banks require you to carry around a cable, too. Wireless power banks do away with cables but come with their own major limitation–the inefficiency of wireless charging means you need a high-capacity power bank to fully charge a drained iPhone. I use one as a quick bedside iPhone charger so I can charge and use the phone at…
