Macworld The big reveal at Apple’s WWDC keynote on June 5 will reportedly be the Reality Pro, an AR headset that looks to what Meta, Microsoft, Magic Leap, and others haven’t: make mixed reality a viable and popular platform. The excitement is palpable, but this isn’t the iPhone or iPad. And according to a new report, it has a very real chance of failing. On Thursday, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman posted an extensive report based on anonymous sources of people involved in the headset. Much of what’s in Gurman’s article has been previously reported, but he offers a comprehensive look at the changing vision for the project and the uncertainty within the company as to how successful it can be.  Some…
Macworld It’s looking more and more like Apple’s next big thing won’t be something that fits in your pocket or a bag. Rather it could be another wearable device–specifically a headset that provides augmented and virtual reality, this strongly rumored mixed-reality headset has been dubbed “Reality Pro”. Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo said in 2021 that Apple’s “goal is to replace the ‌iPhone‌ with AR in 10 years.” Here’s everything we know so far about Apple’s rumored mixed-reality headset which could be coming in 2023. Photo by Becca Farsace / The Verge Apple surpassed Wall Street expectations and said it had reached an all-time high in services revenue and set a new March quarter record for iPhone revenue in a report on its second quarter earnings on Thursday. The numbers show continued demand for the iPhone 14 lineup even as substantial upgrades (including USB-C connectivity) approach this fall. But Apple’s other divisions, including Mac and iPad, were down year over year. “We are pleased to report an all-time record in services and a March quarter record for iPhone despite the challenging macroeconomic environment, and to have our installed base of active devices reach an all-time high,” CEO Tim Cook said in the company’s earnings release.…
Apple CEO Tim Cook today said he still views mass layoffs as a "last resort," and ensured this is not something the company is considering right now. "I view that as a last resort and, so, mass layoffs is not something that we're talking about at this moment," said Cook, in an interview with CNBC. Apple has not made any mass layoffs of full-time employees, but the company has reportedly laid off some corporate employees within its retail teams, let go of some recruiter contractors, and stopped hiring for some…
